Headlight funded training and climbing sessions for users of our Early Intervention in Psychosis service. This off-the-wall activity has provided an opportunity to learn a new skill, focus single-mindedly on the climb and as a result reduced episodes of hallucinations and delusions. By climbing!
The project involved training service users in climbing basics, including training them to train others, and providing the essential equipment for them to establish a regular group. Guided by expert climbers and our clinicians, the group has become a much valued part of the Early Intervention in Psychosis programme and has now been running for several years with a life of its own.
